Food and health products were the top online purchases by Turks last year

According to a report by Hepsiburada, an e-commerce platform, the most ordered products by Turkish consumers in 2023 were food, health and beauty, clothing, and technology.

Online shoppers also favored small household appliances.

The peak times for online shopping were Mondays and Tuesdays, from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The top online shopping cities were Istanbul, Ankara, and İzmir, followed by Bursa, Kocaeli, Antalya, Konya, and Adana.

The most active months for online shopping were November, when big discounts were offered, and September and October when sales for school supplies were launched.

Among electronic goods, smartphones were the best-selling item, followed by laptops. Bluetooth headsets and smartwatches were the most popular mobile phone accessories.

The report also indicated that cabinets, office chairs, and computer tables were among the preferred products in 2023.

Deep fryers, espresso machines, and cappuccino machines were the most purchased items among small home appliances.

Another survey, conducted by Areda, a polling company, revealed that 57 percent of Turks had no plans to celebrate New Year’s Eve.

Of those who did celebrate, 87 percent stayed at home, while 13.4 percent went out to welcome the new year.

The survey also found that the most common activity among those who celebrated New Year’s Eve was watching TV at home 55 percent, while 12 percent played games.

Only 0.2 percent said they would sleep through the night, and 0.4 percent said they would celebrate New Year’s Eve by themselves.
