Russia announced on Monday that it had expelled the Estonian Ambassador, and subsequently lowered the diplomatic representation with Tallinn, in response to similar measures taken by the Estonian authorities, a statement from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The statement added that the ministry summoned the Estonian Ambassador in Moscow, where he received a strong protest in connection with the actions of the Estonian authorities, giving him a deadline to leave Russia until Feb 7, 2023.
The statement pointed out that such a measure came in response to a new and unfriendly step taken by Estonia, through sharply reducing the size of the Russian Embassy crew in Tallinn.
