Sydneysiders are being warned to expect long delays on the city’s rail system as industrial strike action sees more than 150 functional trains sitting at depots without drivers.

Within Sydney suburban areas delays of between 40 minutes and an hour are expected between services.

Some regional services are cancelled altogether.

The union has not accepted that deal, arguing that the details have not been made in writing.
